The Olga Havel Award 1998

Martina Langrová was the laureate of the Olga Havel Award 1998.

On the 4th of May 1998, the Olga Havel Award ceremony was held at the Galery Ambit in Prague. The Award was given to Martina Langrová from Olomouc. The event was led by Arnošt Goldflam, and the cultural part included performances of the band Musica per Bambini with Moravian songs conducted by prof. Sekvartová and prof. Bureš. Dana Němcová gave thanks to significant donors and colleagues. They also included those, who helped the Foundation after the floods in 1997.

Martina Langrová, born Žalčíková, was born in Zlín. She is quite little, with walking problems. She studied sociology and French at the Palackého University in Olomouc, and completed her studies with a dissertation work “Methodical problems of examining handicapped people living with their families" (1998). Questions of integrating handicapped people into society have become a part of her life. In summer 1997, she married Jiří Langr who, since 2001, has been chairman of the Regional Council of handicapped people. Martina works at the Archdiocese charity in Olomouc as an assistant for social projects, and at the same time works at the Association Trend of wheelchair users on a project of personal assistance. Her motto: "To be at the right time at the right place".
