I live, therefore I am - how to ensure decent housing in Prague for people in need

The Committee of Good Will – The Olga Havel Foundation in cooperation with the Václav Havel Library was organized an online discussion on affordable housing for families in need. It took place on Wednesday, April 21 at 7 pm.

What are poor families in Prague facing? In what conditions do they live and are social services available to them? What could be done better in Prague and how are the Prague City Hall and non-profit organizations helping families in need?

These and other questions were answered by Milena Johnová, Councilor of the Prague City Hall, Monika Granja, Director of the Olga Havel Foundation, and Jana Němcová, a field social worker for non-profit organization People in Need. The discussion has been broadcasted on the Havel Channel.

You could also learn about the new Housing Support Fund, which was founded by the Prague City Hall and the Committee of Good Will – Olga Havel Foundation. The fund helped 40 families during the first year of operation, mostly single people, with children in need. Thanks to that project, these families did not end up on the street.

The discussion was moderated by Martin Churavý.

„We wish that the right for dignified life is also enjoyed by those who live with handicap or mental illness, abandoned and old people, those who have a different skin colour or a different way of life, those in poverty or attacked by a malignant disease.“ Olga Havel
