Nearly three quarters of a million crowns will go to psychological aid for Ukrainian children

A public collection for this purpose was announced in early October this year in connection with the holding of the second annual Parliamentary Summit of the Crimean Platform. It is hosted in Prague by the Speaker of the Chamber of Deputies of the Parliament of the Czech Republic Markéta Pekarová Adamová and attended by more than 50 parliamentary delegations from all over the world.

The collection was initiated by Markéta Pekarová Adamová with the aim of raising funds for psychological assistance to Ukrainian children residing in the Czech Republic and to support them after their return to their homeland from unjustified detention in Russia. She was inspired by Olena Zelenska, the wife of the Ukrainian President, for whom the issue of psychological help for children affected by the war is crucial.

The collection held under the auspices of the Speaker of the Ukrainian Parliament Ruslan Stefanchuk and the Presidential Office of Ukraine brought in over 200 thousand crowns as of 23 October. This amount has been increased by another half a million by the Olga Havel Goodwill Committee - Olga Havel Foundation. The result of the collection was announced at a ceremony in the Ballroom of Prague Castle in the presence of President Petr Pavel, senior constitutional officials and representatives of foreign delegations of legislators attending the summit. It is possible to join the collection and continue to contribute to the support of Ukrainian children, e.g. via the online form here.

The Olga Havel Foundation's fundraising continues its previous varied charitable activities, when in the years 2022-2023 it supported 45 non-profit organizations in providing professional assistance to refugees from Ukraine, with a strong emphasis on professional psychological assistance. So far, in cooperation with AMIGA, individual psychological support has been provided to over 1,150 clients and group activities have been carried out for more than 3,700 children in need.

„We wish that the right for dignified life is also enjoyed by those who live with handicap or mental illness, abandoned and old people, those who have a different skin colour or a different way of life, those in poverty or attacked by a malignant disease.“ Olga Havel
