Looking back at the 5th annual Olga Havel Foundation Good Will Run

More than 500 runners took part in the fifth annual Olga Havel Foundation Good Will Run, which took place on Tuesday, 12 September, at the Hvězda Reserve. Thanks to them, an amazing 658,800 crowns were raised to help families in need.

The entire proceeds from the entry fee will be donated by the Committee of Good Will - Olga Havel Foundation to help families in need. Selected stories of supported families:

  • A mother who is raising two young boys on her own will receive a financial donation to purchase a wheelchair for her younger son Adámek, who suffers from cerebral palsy with partial paralysis of the limbs on the right side of his body. The mother herself struggles with a health handicap.
  • The financial assistance will provide temporary accommodation (in alternative, shelter or crisis houses) for families at risk of losing their housing, where social workers will assist in dealing with their living situation (e.g. dealing with benefits, health conditions or finding stable housing and work).

Participants of the event could enjoy refreshments at many stands of non-profit organizations and try out the javelin throw with the Olympic athlete Irena Gillar. The sports afternoon was enriched by the Spejbl and Hurvínek Theatre and the building of a jubilee mosaic from LEGO® bricks and a heart not only for Olga. The youngest children could build with LEGO® DUPLO® bricks. There was also a LEGO® photo booth. Olga Havel's 90th birthday was commemorated with an outdoor exhibition "Olga Havlová - First Lady of the Republic - Queen of Children". A Song for Olga by Aneta Langerová was also performed.

Our thanks go to our partners, volunteers, patrons and all supporters, without whose involvement the Olga Havel Foundation Good Will Run would not have been possible. Thanks also go to the Prague 6 Municipal District and the ČEZ Foundation for their financial support and to Ochranný svaz autorský (OSA).

„We wish that the right for dignified life is also enjoyed by those who live with handicap or mental illness, abandoned and old people, those who have a different skin colour or a different way of life, those in poverty or attacked by a malignant disease.“ Olga Havel
